The final day is always the hardest. Despite being exhausted from non-stop activities all over (and outside of) Seoul, I wasn't quite ready for this adventure to end. It is a bittersweet feeling ending a vacation in a place that you fell in love with, while also looking forward to the day that you will return again.
A final sunset from the rooftop of our hotel as we enjoyed a beer and corn soup chips
On the final night, the thought of packing up my bags and heading to the airport in the morning was just so sorrowful. I knew that I had to relish every last second of my time in Seoul. From the hour-long drive to Incheon airport to savoring our last Korean meal, I was enjoying every moment of it to the fullest. Surprisingly, I didn't cry in the Uber this time.
Egg Drop, the best last breakfast
Korea was such a magical place. Seoul is a vibrant and bustling city full of incredible and friendly people, amazing culture and delicious food. Even Brent, the initially skeptical traveler, had fallen in love with the city of Seoul.
Of course me being me, I am already planning our next visit.
Seoul will undoubtedly be at the top of our travel list, and I like to imagine Brent and I walking hand-in-hand again through the picturesque streets of Bukchon Hanok Village, placing a lock at N-Seoul Tower, twirling in my traditional Korean hanbok, and enjoying an ice cold beer with tasty fried chicken (chimaek). We sadly missed our stop to Busan during our travels this time, but I know that during our next visit we will make it a point to spend a few days in the coastal area.
Ending our time in Seoul was a bittersweet experience, but the sadness of leaving was tempered by the knowledge that we will be back again one day.
Goodbye Korea, but just for now. We will be walking the streets of Seoul again soon.
